Privacy Policy

Welcome to the cat-herding portion of my website!

If you've clicked on this link, I assume you are concerned about your privacy, and I want to assure you that I will make every effort to protect your personal data.* Unfortunately, when it comes to data protection, there are several pieces to consider. That's where it gets complicated, and it reminds me a bit of trying to round up a whole litter of kittens for a trip to the vet.  Often times when you open the carrier door to get one squared away, two others pop out. In this case, my website interacts with Substack, Author Websites by Bookbub, and Google Analytics, and you need to consider their privacy policies as well.

There are four areas where my website interacts with you and data might be captured:

Newsletter

When you sign up for my Substack newsletter, I collect only your name and email address. I then add it to my Substack mailing list, and Substack sends out my newsletter for me. I will never sell or share your personal data with anyone except Substack. However, once Substack has your information, it is subject to the Substack privacy policy. You can find that policy here: Privacy Policy You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking on the link at the bottom of the emails.

Comments

I do not collect comments on my website. If you wish to contact me, you may send a note on the Contact Page which will be forwarded directly to my email address. The comment is never stored on the site. If you wish to comment on the newsletter, you may either use the Contact Page or go to my Substack at Lucinda Gerlitz | Substack. Use of comments on Substack is also covered by their Privacy Policy

Cookies

My website was built using Author Websites by Bookbub, and they may use cookies to enhance website performance. To read more about of their use of cookies and other information, see their privacy policy here: Privacy Policy - BookBub

Website Activity Tracking

I will be using Google Analytics to analyze how visitors are using my website. Google Analytics is a tool that collects usage data from websites and allows the owner to build reports so they can have better insight into their website traffic and engagement. You can learn more about Google's privacy policy here: Privacy Policy – Privacy & Terms – Google.

You can probably see now why this all feels like trying to corral those unmannerly kittens. There are a lot of pieces to get a grip on, and it isn't easy to handle all of them at once. But I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please get in touch with me on my contact page.

*This privacy policy is a work in progress. Please check back for updates.
